David has earned the B.A. and M.A. from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, the M.S. from Florida State University, the M. Div. from the McAfee School of Theology, and the Doctor of Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary. He is married to the Rev. Christy Haga Turner, a United Methodist pastor. Together, they have two sons. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Baptists Today and the national Coordinating Council of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. His interests include Christian education, reading, history, current events, baseball, and college football.

Originally from Charlottesville, he attended Virginia Tech, obtaining a bachelor degree in marketing management. He spent 25 years in the insurance industry and served in several church music ministries before being called into full-time ministry. Nelson and his wife Robyn came to Central from Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, Virginia, where he served as Minister of Music and Youth. In 2004, he earned the Master of Divinity in Church Music from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. Mark came to Central from Haddock Baptist Church in Haddock, Georgia. He holds a Master of Divinity from the McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University, in Atlanta, Georgia and completed his undergraduate studies at Shorter College. He is married to Katye, and they have one son. His key areas of focus are ministry with middle school and senior high students, young adults, and facilities administration. Erin Rourke Collier - Children's Ministry Specialist The Rev. Erin Rourke Collier joined the Central staff in 2007. A native of Mechanicsville, Virginia, and an alumna of the University of Mary Washington, Erin received the M.Div. from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond in 2011. Her ministry experience includes PASSPORTkids! Camps, Baptist Campus Ministries leadership, and a summer spent working with underprivileged children in South Africa. Erin's key areas of focus are children's ministry and church communications. She is married to the Rev. Drew Collier, also a Baptist minister. Erin is a 2010-2011 cohort participant in Women's Uptick, a ministry leadership program of Virginia Baptists. Susan Doeg - Administrative AssistantCentral welcomed Susan Doeg in 2011. She brings nearly 20 years of church experience. Most weeks, Susan is with us Monday through Wednesday and Friday. She brings to her role an extensive background in elementary education with an emphasis in literacy development. Cara holds a master's degree in early childhood education from Virginia Commonwealth University.
